Reasons why your home has low water pressure

Water Pressure: When Should I Call A Professional?

People everyday use water from showering, using the dishwasher, washing hands, brushing teeth, and flushing the toilet. Because of our frequent use of water, problems are bound to occur. After all, nothing stays brand new and indestructible forever. But if the problems are unable to be fixed, then it is time to call in a plumber to do the work of fixing water pressure issues.

Since we use water everyday, it is important to keep our water pressure at its normal capabilities or it may impact your everyday use of the water supply. The toilet may not flush properly, the dishwasher may not clean the dishes properly and washing the laundry may also encounter problems.

Although most of the time, water pressure issues may be easily fixed, some are better left for the professionals.

Leaks

Although pipes are created to withstand constant water flowing through, sometimes problems may occur, causing the pipes to break and water to leak. Because the water inside the water pipes are responsible for the water pressure in a house, a leak may interfere with that pressure because the water would be flowing into the hole in the pipe.

It's better to seek professional help from a plumber for the sake of safety of the pipe not bursting again soon.

Demand

Often people share water pipes and that may also play a part in interfering with water pressure. Sometimes, if a lot of people are using water at once, the pressure may get slower since water is going in many different directions.

But fortunately, low water pressure due to demand is not a major problem. You may be experiencing water pressure problems for a few minutes. But most likely people will not be continuously using all the water at the same time. So when people decide to stop using water, the water pressure will return to normal.

Corrosion

Pipes are often made out of metal, which will eventually become rusty, especially since a constant flow of water would leave moisture. Although pipes are created to last for a long time, they would eventually corrode. This could lead to contaminated water and interfere with the water pressure.

Since
corrosion is not a problem that is easy to spot, it's a good idea to consult a plumber to identify the problem that is causing the lower water pressure. Unfortunately, this is not a matter that can be solved by yourself. At a time like this it is best to call up a plumber to replace the pipes, since corroded pipes are essentially unsafe to use and interfere with your water pressure.
